It is due to the sheer consistency & perseverance that AJ HSS is able to lay the foundation of excellence and meet the growing challenges of time. The school boasts of qualified and competent teachers with years of teaching experience in India. The faculty members are encouraged to update their skills and knowledge on a regular basis. Besides, the teachers undergo regular training sessions in areas such as teaching methodologies and use of technology in the class.
THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
The English Department at AJ HSS is a dynamic learning community dedicated to exploring the beauty and power of language and literature. The mission of the Department of English is to facilitate the goal of the School to become an institute that aims at teaching excellence as well as meeting the needs of the rapidly changing modern Indian society.
Being a strong team, the Department has also designed a curriculum to meet students' academic and professional needs. Besides chiselling the language skills, the students are trained in participating in Group discussions, Personal Interviews and Public Speaking which will aid them in their professional life. Training in writing skills, helps pupils to opt for any field that requires proficiency in English.
The Department of English has state-of-the-art language learning hardware and software to nurture its students' growth in English language. A multi-lingual language lab assists the teachers to make learning innovative, creative and result oriented. This is further supplemented by many multimedia language materials.
Adhering to the spirit of the transformation of the CBSE Board, the Department of English responds to changes in the profession and society, providing students with a flexible academic framework that reflects contemporary and emerging issues in English learning and teaching. THE MATH DEPARTMENT
Wide applicability of Mathematics makes it an essential subject to study by everyone. The Mathematics department of AJ HSS , aims at providing the child with the basic mathematical concepts and skills needed to tackle real life problems. Mathematics is an interesting subject which helps in cultivating thinking and reasoning skills. Through the activities and games Mathematics helps to develop precision, rational and analytical thinking, reasoning, positive attitude and aesthetic sense among children. Learning mathematics through story based questions, activities and games makes a child's life at school a happy experience. Mathematics has emerged as a subject of exploration and creation rather than an exercise of finding old answers to a complicated problem. The mathematics in classroom aims at encouraging the children to be task and solution oriented
THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
AJ HSS believes in providing Science education through theoretical discussions, mental exercises and experiments and testing. The school provides spacious well-equipped laboratories for Life Sciences, Physics and Chemistry. Lab activities at AJ HSS start from class 1 itself. The Tiny Tots get an early exposure to Science through demonstration, experimentation and play way method. The school has a well-equipped Science Park where practical application of the various theories can be easily demonstrated. A botanical garden is also being developed by our students. Development of an herb garden with various medicinal plants is also in the pipeline.
Our effort is to make the Campus an eco-friendly zone with the objective of making it a non polythene zone.
HINDI DEPARTMENT
The Hindi department of AJ HSS is another set of versatile and creative minds, which is committed to explore the hidden love for language & literature among students. The aim of this department is to motivate the students and inculcate in them a profound and genuine interest in learning language. The trained and well informed teachers provide ample opportunities to students to explore experience and express their ideas, views and opinions freely. The students are trained in various language skills and are also made capable of composing good writing pieces. Several activities like debates, poetry writing elocution, plays not only promote a spirit of healthy competition but also bring to light new talents.
Hindi enjoys the position being 3rd language till Grade X and becomes optional subject at Plus two levels. Similarly Tamil or French is a 2nd language till Grade X.
THE SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
The fast changing scenario has brought about new ideas & concepts in the entire educational set-up & social science is no exception. This subject is an integral component of general education because it helps the learners in understanding the environment in its totality & developing reasonable humane outlook. It provides a comprehensive view of society-over space and time and in relation to each other. The social science department of AJ HSS aims to help the learner grow into a well-informed and responsible citizen with necessary attributes and skills for being able to participate and contribute effectively in the process of development and nation building. AJ HSS has a well-equipped Social Science lab which provides the best of all facilities including maps, charts, globes, 3D models, survey instruments, scientific teaching aids and their optimum use gives ample opportunities to the students to have practical knowledge, to develop scientific temper by promoting the spirit of enquiry and following a rational and objective approach in analyzing and evaluating data and information. Besides all this the department organizes various classroom activities like debates, quizzes, group discussions, role-plays regularly in order to make learning a joyful experience.
COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
In this fast paced world of information technology, it is necessary for the children to have adequate knowledge in the subject of Computer Sciences. AJ HSS provides the students with the facility of a well-equipped Computer Lab. The computer teaching is age oriented, with Classes 1 to 5 covering basic functions such as MS Paint and MS Office. Classes 6 to 8 deal with basic programming languages and Class 9 and 10 deal with advanced computer languages such as C and Java. Classes 11 and 12 have IP(Informatics Practices) as an optional subject in which they are taught Visual BASIC, Java, C++, Oracle and other programming languages required to be successful in the field of computers.
ART & CRAFT
Creativity is important for the overall development of the child. Here at AJ HSS , the child is taught skills in Art & Craft as a way to enhance their creativity. The school gives regular Art lessons until Class 5 and then provides them with SUPW to teach art forms that are useful for the community. The students develop a good aesthetic sense which adds a feather in their caps for their all round development. Children have won laurels at various art competitions, including at international levels, and have their works exhibited all through-out the world
PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
Sound mind in a sound body- so goes the proverb. AJ HSS not only provides quality education, but also aims to provide excellent coaching in various sports. AJ HSS is now a renowned name in the field of sports. It has produced state- as well as national-level players in various fields such as football, hand ball, basketball, cricket, boxing, wrestling, chess, table tennis, skating and many other disciplines. The credit for the same is proudly shared by a team of teachers of PE Department, who encourages, coaches and fine-tunes them in various fields.
THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
In today's world of globalization, there is a great influence of western culture on the psyche of children. The children are in a state of turmoil and confused as they experience a lot of anxiety, frustration and stress. Hence they are unable to make decisions in regard to their career planning, physical, and social wellbeing. A congenial environment is essential for the comprehensive personality of the student. Psychology as a subject helps in better understanding of not only human behaviour but also our own behaviour. It helps children in making them self-reliant and self-dependent so that they can achieve their goals in life. The subject also helps the students in experiencing 'A pleasant life' 'A good life' and 'A meaningful life'..........
THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT
Music is the resonance of life. Music heals the ill and provides vigour to those who are suffering and in stress. AJ HSS provides guidance and training to those interested in music, dance and the arts. It has well-equipped instrumental and vocal music rooms. THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT
AJ HSS Library is a rich learning resource center which not only provides information but also inculcates ideas and develops knowledge that is so essential for functioning successfully in today's society. A huge spacious, well lit and well equipped library of AJ HSS , boasts of its utility in its splendour. Numerous books, arranged in open bookshelves is a treat to eye and easy to approach. AJ HSS library caters to the diverse needs of students in respect to reference material, competitive exams and intensive study of all the subjects and aims at rediscovering the long forgotten love for reading. It equips students with life-long learning skills and develops in them creative thinking and imagination and enables them to live as ideal and responsible citizens. AJ HSS School Library acts as a hub of all the activities planned and executed in the school.
